i just LOVE this song from Juno. it has stuck with me. whenever i feel really happy or giddy, it always pops into my head. nothing in life (not people/pets/anything) is ever perfect, but it IS all perfectly silly, and i just want to laugh my eyes dry. the best days are the ones when i find humor in everything! smile til' your cheeks hurt & have a great weekend!

spring in miami basically means summer (since we have such minimal season changes).. so i guess summer is here?!!!? i am more of a winter type person, but recently i have been craving brights and pastels. if you can't BEAT the hot sun, may as well join it, right!? :)

this dress is the perfect dress for a summer in miami. it is a thin fabric and the best color my eyes have ever seen. i was on an endless search for the ideal summer wedges/flatforms last week, and i am happy to report that these are it! the weather has been perfect, and i gotta say, i am HAPPY TO BE ALIVE TODAY! it deserved all caps. simplify your life, it will set you free!

just WOW. miami has been full of meaningful things to do, and i am just soaking it all in. these were taken on saturday-- we went to the street fair in our neighborhood. i spent all my money on:

a. marshmallow sprinkle pops

b. iced coffee

c. holding a boa constrictor and having my picture taken with it.

shows a bit about my character, huh?

then at night matt and i saw a movie that was part of the miami film festival that made me laugh and cry all in one. one of the greatest documentaries i have ever seen. it's called LEMON, and it was the almost unbelievable story of a poet/actor who grew up in the brooklyn projects. he is so talented, and i am so glad someone captured his story on film for me to see. :) i hope you found happiness and meaning in your weekend, and happy monday!

when i was growing up, my walls were bubblegum pink with giant white polka dots. i drove a VW beetle with pink and white polka dotted fabric all over the dashboard, AND i had a vintage skirt to match. to this day, when i see something with polka dots i go a little crazy for it. if i lived alone, i promise you i would have polka dot walls, a polka dot comforter AND a fuzzy light pink rug.

this is just one of those signature outfits i will always love. a few dots, a little peter pan collar and some gorgeous pleats. i hope you all have a fun filled weekend! IT'S FRIDAY!! and there is an art festival in our neighborhood all weekend :)

meow meow meow, i am in love with kitties. you can only imagine my excitement when my good friend (a super sweetheart, btw!) shareen who runs the vintage shop vintage mavens told me it could be mine! lets just say i showed my dad... and he even got excited. i mean, the kitties have BOW TIES. i have been trying to convince matt that we should own a cat, but for now it is a no-go. if i did own one, i would probably buy it every item from this etsy, CAT atelier, that i click to if i am ever in a bad mood. for real, the cats have peter pan collars and bow ties lol.

these were taken in a sentimental spot. the house i grew up in (that my parents moved out of a few years back) is right down the street, so i spent a lot of time writing in my journal in this mini intracoastal park. go ahead, laugh at me... i was an art school, journal writing dweeb (and i still am!)

hello friends!

it was a brilliant weekend here in steffy land! i spent most of it in a weird silly/ giddy state, goofing off with my two favorite guys-- my dad and my matt! we saw wanderlust, ate yummy mexi salads at el jefe luchador, and on sunday matty even thrifted with me (and i think he enjoyed it!).

i wore this to the eye doctor/ movies on saturday and it grabs the win for my #1 favorite outfit in a while. i just love LOVE this dress! i'm off to work :) so many dresses as cute as kittens coming to my store soon!

gooood afternoon!

thank you all so much for your sweet comments yesterday, i went to bed with a grin.. and woke up with one too for that matter! today i will be finishing up "project cake pops." this weeks batch will be perfect hopefully.

do you ever listen to a song and have it just bring you back in time. i was running to pandora this morning and that suuper overplayed song by jay-z came on and it brought me back to 2010 when i worked at lucky strike on 12ave and they would play it over and over. i lived in brooklyn here in this tiny room. and YIKES this was my street. and my day job was at this wacky upscale kickboxing gym on madison ave that was "super exclusive" in a basement. that is why i love music. 1 song, and a plethora of memories!

okay, enough rambles! i'm wearing lavender here because it is my latest obsession. i wore this to school on tuesday and i got a funny look at starbucks. i didn't mind. have a good day!

i almost smiled my face off when Modcloth picked me as blogger of the moment. my heart felt really warm, as i found many of my most favorite blogs by perusing the interviews of past bloggers of the moment. of course my dress is extra polka-dotted and extra pink with a sweet collar! it feels like it sums me up perfectly :)

i styled the "steffys pros and cons dress" with pops of hunter green and vibrant red, and for some reason i just knew it needed to be worn with some extra-high mary janes! i felt as pretty as a picture in it. i just had to frolick at sunset!

a fun little sunday in downtown miami. i ate the most yummy caprese salad at the cheese course! then i gave matt a haircut in our backyard (youtube taught me how to cut hair!) and we went for an evening run. just a regular day but it felt special.

hope you all had a delightful weekend. just because the weekend is over doesn't mean you have to stop having fun! i saw this article via facebook and it was a huge eye opener. just a little experiment done by the Washington Post to make us realize that in order to see beauty in the ordinary you have to look for it. it's there! :) XO!

so i am going to let you all in on a little secret. i wear glasses in EVERY post not because i think they are cute (i mean i do, but...) but because i have this eye infection that i just can't kick! i think it is silly because i've been wearing the glasses so much that they have turned into my signature. in class i had to write a product description for myself (kind of cool, huh!?) and i actually described myself as a gal with big glasses. HA! i have a doctors appointment for saturday.

matt took me to this amazing place, the daily, yesterday morning in downtown miami so of course i had to share :) they have EVERYTHING... there were too many sandwiches to choose from so i instantly went with a rice krispie treat. typical!

recently, aside from my pastel obsession i have been drawn to black and white. i want to say it is "easy" .. because it is.. but aside from that i think the two colors together are refreshing. sometimes simplicity is underrated. so here it is.. black, white, polka dots and a touch of blue!

hi hi hi!

oh boy it is monday and i must say, i worked harder sunday than i ever did any monday! so i am embracing it today! hope you all had a good weekend! mine consisted of driving, bonding time with my sweet guy, "camp stove" pasta, lots of bugs (sadly), perfect morning fog, surfing (watching it-- that is) and of course tons of shoppin'! weekend trips are the best ♥

me being my kooky self ... wore this skirt friday night and saturday all day and forgot to pack pants on our trip. typical! it actually gets chilly upcoast so i was bundled in knee high socks and matt's flannel jacket added to this ensemble. i am positive i looked wacky. it kept me warm though! i forgot how in love i am with this polka dot bow tie. there's nothing better than rediscovering once loved items.

hello, hello, and happy february!

let me just divulge that i am NOT looking forward to spring, not one bit! spring in florida just leads into the brutal summers and i am soaking in as much of "winter" as i can. but weather aside, i have this undying need for everything pastel! it may have something to do with this collection by j.crew that is just drool worthy. minty green and pink, yes please! oh, and no big deal but my jacket has two bows on the collar! siiiigh!

have a stupendously stupendous weekend. after my saturday morning 8am class (ugh) i will be heading upcoast with matt to camp. i know, we go up the coast of florida way too much.. but we like nature and aside from the everglades we don't have much in miami! i'll probably take pictures on instagram if you wanna see our trip [steffysprosandcons]. if you have neighboring states in reasonable driving distance than HEY i just gave you something to be thankful for. it takes us about 5.5 hours to leave florida. yikes!

as far as dreams go, one of my biggest dreams is to live in a house in the woods with a backyard. i know some people think the tropics are beautiful, but my idea of beauty is a deserted road in the middle of the wilderness. i think snow and the fall and trees without leaves are SO pretty. i'm jealous of all you cuties with pictures in the snow!! lucky for me, my friend alex moved into a cabin in a state park!

matt and i spent this day in the park canoeing and skating hills! yes... i can skate, just a hidden secret ;) i wore my newest favoritest sweater! i snatched it up on saturday and haven't taken it off since. and paired with a peter pan collar... dreammmy!

oh how happy i am that it is wednesday! i LOVE wednesdays because i shop for my store today. it is the one day of the week that i live in a dream world... wake up, sip coffee, ignore all homework, shop & sew and finish the day by cooking a home cooked meal for my guy when he gets off work!

why hello there. i'm just listening to dirty projectors, stillness is the move over and over again. it's such a good song.. or the whole cd is good, actually. it reminds me of living in nyc because i would always dance to it on the subway. i've been really missin' nyc, i can't wait to move back one day.

these were taken yesterday when we went to the farmers market. matt bought a lot of fruit and veggies and of course i SURPRISINGLY found cute cupcakes. last one for a while! matt said, " if you eat them every day then they aren't a treat." :) he is right.

i felt like dressing pretty casual and i am in love with black skinnies this season. i never really wear much black, but black pants are the perfect blank canvas to wear a fun blouse and some glittery shoes! k have a superb monday! look for new goodies in my store later :)

good mornin'! i am very happy today because last night we had a cute little potluck dinner at our house with all of our closest friends and it was heart warming :) i love seeing good faces on "week nights." it feels even more special than seeing them on weekends!

i've been spending most of my days wearing a beehive since i stumbled upon this post on elsie's blog. it sorta changed my life :) making a gigantic beehive is as simple as adding a loofah under your hair. who would have thought! and if you were wondering, yes, i have a loofah on my head!

sometimes adding the beehive makes me feel overdressed(plus i get weird looks), so i went for my "typical comfy january" look with my new favorite sweater dress! i just love the tribal inspired red and tan color combination. these pictures just look like what a florida winter feels like. never really that cold, but chilly enough to play dress up in winter clothes :)

here i am just nibbling on some bright pink heart peeps and getting ready to go to school. i am so excited that valentines day is less than a month away. one silly little fact about me is that i TRULY believe in love. as i'm sure you all have, i have had my fair share of let downs and heartache, but i always continued to believe that one day i would find a special love. ever since i met matt valentines days are always exactly how i envisioned them to be.

our 1st valentines day together i was living in nyc and he was living in orlando. a huge blizzard hit and my flight to florida got cancelled :( oh how i cried and cursed blizzards. hehe. i managed to get there though, and i remember we packed sandwiches and had a picnic in the woods and looked up at the shapes in the clouds. it was such a good day. i can hardly believe that was two years ago.

okay, enough with the sap. i think this outfit is kind of romantic, anyway. i have been wearing these boots so much. and i bought the slouchy hat on a whim in NYC and just love it! the weather here has been just chilly enough to wear a sweater and a hat. i wish it could stay january forever!

a perfect glimpse of a perfect day in coral gables. ♥ the weather has been in the 50's! matty and i walked to the post office to ship off some of your goodies and then grabbed an authentic french meal at our favorite cafe, chocolate fashion. their raspberry tart is the most delicious treat i have ever tasted, and i have tasted lots of sweets!

i feel so lucky to have found this gorgeous fringed jacket right before the cold front hit. not kidding that i haven't taken it off since. i have learned to detach myself from all of my clothes because i pass almost everything along, but sometimes i "fall in love." you know what they say about love! anyway, i will pass it along (hmph) but only because i know whoever gets it next will love it just as much, if not more! have a beautiful day you beautiful people!

why hello and happy friday! i am really happy to announce that this is my first "real weekend" in a very long time [ aside from the class i have saturday morning]. after playing super steffy last quarter and working + running my store/blog + attending school full-time i realized something had to go because i am not super, i am just a normal human :) sooo, until i finish school i will be focusing more on my store & school, meaning more vintage for YOU and better grades for ME. yay! plus now i can take weekends to relax!

but don't worry your brains, in september when i graduate i will be searching for a full-time job. i am a worker-bee, and plan on working til' i am old and grey!

here i am in my new favorite sweater for this week. sorry about the blouse being "sold out".. i visited my mom yesterday and she fell in love with it. now it is hers, hehe!

why hello there!

it's good to drop in and say hello, because i miss you guys! today i am going to read all of your blogs! i started school yesterday and am really happy with both classes so far(fashion show production & sales promotion). i somehow managed to pull off shooting these photos, then shooting all the new product photos for my store, then attending two classes til' 9 pm. phew! i am thankful i am so busy, it is a good thing!

here i am wearing possibly my favorite color combination ever. there is something so soothing about pairing brown and pink. and adding gold... ah! i wore this for school yesterday. i hope i can always wear what i want to work when i am done with school ;)

hiya guys!

i am safely back in miami after QUITE the journey. spirit air (worst airline!) decided that it would create only one flight time to leave nicaragua-- departing at 2AM! ick. so we didn't get back to our cozy bed until 6AM yesterday morning. i am admitting to taking a guilty-free "do nothing" day yesterday :) i slept until about 1PM and then walked to get some coffee with my cute guy. of course i wore a dress covered in butterflies! i have the softest spot for cutesy patterns...

my classes start again tomorrow and today will be a full day of work. i am glad to be back in the routine, is it weird that i sort of missed it?

last post of 2011! crazy! sorry i'm not equipped with a snazzy "year-end" type of post, but i've been on-the-go. i will make sure to post my new years outfit, and then on to some nicaragua posts!

it makes me so happy when my man friends enjoy shopping with me, which is why this day was extra special! my friend eddie accompanied me to my favorite brooklyn vintage shop bright n' early and i left with this special alpaca cutie sweater and he snagged a leather jacket and a sweater that says "aged to perfection" hehe. the alpaca's eye is a heart. i die.

thennnn i got to meet kallie of happy, honey and lark in the lower east side! um, meeting bloggers in real life is the coolest. plus she was wearing a cute-as-a-button kitty sweater AND she caught on to matt's Seinfeld references! to top it ALL off, i walked past my favorite LES bike that is covered in christmas lights as the sun was going down. new york city, i LOVE you. i never want to leave.

oh, i have such an unconditional love for new york city days. the perfect crisp winter air, the cozy sweater filled days, the amazing vintage shops, the non-starbuck's coffee shops, and walking, walking, walking. my heart IS happy.

in highschool i had one "dream" and it was to live off of palmetto park road in my hometown-- the road of my favorite beach. my best friend lacey and i would sit under the pavillion at the beach for hours drawing in our sketchbooks, knitting and napping just the two of us and our silly little dreams. every time i come back to my hometown of boca raton i see little shadows of my younger self all over the place... and i remember all the happy feelings i felt growing up. well this week my dream finally came true. my parents moved to the coziest house near my favorite beach. yesterday i got to see their new house for the first time and my mom and i took a walk down memory lane. here it is... palmetto beach [ my home beach!]

speaking of nostalgia, i am wearing a dress that was sent to me by my favorite designer, Betsey Johnson. i almost fainted when they e-mailed me. i was never one who was big on labels, but i have worn and followed Betsey throughout the years since i was a teenager. on special occasions my mom ALWAYS got me a betsey johnson dress! being my quirky self, i decided to wear the dress backwards and add a collar underneath! how would you wear it!?

hey guys!

here i am at this peaceful picturesque spot near my house. about 5 feet away there is a grimy road with motels and street peddlers. miami is weird.

yesterday matt and i booked a trip to nicaragua in the first week of january! it is weird, because we coincidently booked the trip on our one year anniversary of moving back! i don't remember if i shared, but matt and i lived in nicaragua for 7 months in 2010! he managed THIS surfing hotel and i took photographs of the guests surfing on the beach to sell to them. that's how we made $$! it was really adventurous, but there was NO fashion so i went a bit nuts ;) there was good coffee though! and the owners were so welcoming... i felt like we were a little family. during storms we even cooked "family dinners"! i also got to learn a little bit of spanish!

SO needless to say, the next few weeks will be GREAT GREAT! new york city followed by nicaragua! and don't worry, i'll be adding some dresses fresh out of NYC to my store before we go in the beginning of january! also BIG listing coming today to my store :)

YAY. 4 finals down and one to go. last night i got to listen to a bit about my merchandising professors life/career and it made me wish i could have a mentor like him to teach me everything about sewing/ visual merchandising/ store planning/ FASHION. i want an apprenticeship! :) but for real, there is something to be said for someone who knows so much about their craft. *admiration*!

hey there!

steffy land reached it's pinnacle stress level yesterday as i scrambled to finish my final project that i left until the very last day. go me! but.. i started the day off with a yummy family breakfast at my parents house and ended it with a soothing hour ride home from their house with matt listening to death cab. so, minus the middle chunk, sunday was great!

hey there! i am still in a little happy paul simon bubble from last night! what an amazing concert. he played for two full hours, and he is 70 years old! *heaven*

i wanted to answer questions/share thanks about the response to my reader survey below! it was rewarding and difficult at the same time to get feedback. i am glad i touch so many of you, and i appreciate any criticism you gave me because even if it is hard to swallow, i want to keep you all interested and happy. if you haven't filled one out yet, you can fill out the survey HERE.

1. i am SO happy and thankful that you all like the "new in store" posts [except maybe 1 or 2]. i was considering doing away with those because i didn't want them to be a nuisance, but you all seem to actually like them! so thank you for that!

2. to whoever commented on my lack of sewing skills, i have been meaning to apologize to all of you who shopped in my store a few months back before i learned to sew. it was a new endeavor for me, and i have since learned to sew, but i am so sorry if you are unhappy with the way i once sewed/hemmed your dress :( please forgive me. i promise i am much better now :)

3. a majority of you asked for more lifestyle/ personal posts. i aim to add more than me standing in the street... the only reason the posts have been like that lately is because matt's camera is broken. we borrow his friends when we can, so i can't carry it with me. in 2012 i will include lots of posts about my school/ social life/ love life/ all that you asked for!

4. someone commented on my always being happy-- i wanted to say that i am NOT always happy and i do face struggles and roadblocks in my life. i just don't like to burden you all with them. trust me, i spend half of my life stressed out, late, behind on homework and frustrated, but i just try to make the best of it :) and this is my happy place!

hey guys!

i hope you had a good weekend! the highlight of my weekend was when my dad surprised me with tickets to see paul simon on tuesday! he is the BEST. also, matt and i got a new couch! it is actually comfortable. we also went to art basel and saw loads of talented artists' work.

i thrifted this hat my freshman year of college, when i attended NYU. all of my friends thought i was outrageously silly, but i haven't stopped loving it since! afterall, kittys are cute and snuggly and silly to play with... all things i aspire to be! the sweater is a vintage oscar de la renta. i about gasped when i found it! it is the warmest and softest that i own! can't you just see that there's a chill in the air?

btw, how cute is matty? i told him i wanted to practice my focusing skills, but i really just wanted a picture of him in his fall clothes ;)

just strollin' at dusk and basking in the cold front. life just feels so much better when the air is cool on my face. to me, nothing beats a morning coffee in the winter. NOTHING.

i decided to get a bit festive on you and pull out the floral crown! it is december, btw! i get some funny looks when i wear it, but that never bothered me.
